About Me

Never having a dull moment and being active is the way I have lived my whole life. Soccer, Hockey, Cycling, Trail running or just jumping around on furniture are just a few of the things that keep me busy on a daily basis. Gyms never did much for me, but I felt like I needed a little push to stay in shape so a friend from high school turned me onto CrossFit. My life has never been the same since I stepped into my first CrossFit facility in Washington D.C.

CrossFit is made for me, it's never the same and just a little wacky like me. Within two months I lost about 25 pounds and took minutes off my 20 mile bike commute to work. At CrossFit D.C. I started coaching under the guidance of Tom Brose. After a few months of assisting I started leading classes, it was here when I realized I found something I loved to do.

Since getting my CrossFit L1 certification in 2006, I've put all my focus and energy into coaching.

CrossFit not only got me fit, fast, and strong it lead me to my true passion, Coaching.

CrossFit Coach - Brian Smith

About Me

CrossFit changed my life. Period. Actually, make that exclamation point! As a former member of the United States Army Parachute Team (Golden Knights) I competed on the national and world level of competition skydiving. After spending over 8 years in the military I learned the value of hard work, the dynamics of working within a team, the importance of punctuality and the joys of coaching newer athletes.

After leaving the Army, I began working in the business world yet still found time to coach skydiving and compete in formation skydiving. But due to all the new stresses, my personal fitness level was not a focus. Family soon followed and now there seemed to be less time in each day to focus on health and fitness. Until I found CrossFit. There I discovered a new, yet very old way of working out similar to what I had learned in the military. Here in the CrossFit gym, I rediscovered my love of fitness and the community of the gym. My wife also joined and we somehow find time for both of us to workout while managing a family and full time jobs. What seemed so difficult now seems so easy. And our lives are better than ever.

It is now my joy to coach new and experienced athletes. I know that I can help better lives by giving members better health. My experience with coaching and serving my country in the military will help me serve the people of Connecticut.

CrossFit Coach - Mark Izzo

About Me

As a former NCAA springboard and platform diver for the University of Connecticut, I have competed at the D1 level. Earlier in my youth I trained and competed in gymnastics for over 10 years. With my diving and gymnastics background I try to bring this experience into the gym as a coach.

Being an active athlete in all aspects of life has been very important to me. As an active skier, mountain climber, skydiving instructor, pilot, etc. it has been very important to me to stay healthy. As a business owner I found that this is some times difficult to do with a hectic schedule.

After being introduced to CrossFit all things changed. It was easy for me to find one hour a day to get the best work out I have ever had. I am now fitter than I have ever been before and I owe it to CrossFit. The competitive atmosphere makes me strive for more and drives my hunger to be the best Athlete I can be.

As a coach it is my joy to teach and train people and make them realize they can do things they never imagined they could do before.
