Coach Jenny Says.....

I Am So Lucky!

I wonder if people know how lucky I am?!
I go to work before dawn, and sometimes don't get home until 8pm. Only to post away on Facebook and Instagram random pictures of the people who did seemingly above average human movements. Then I get up again at 4am to repeat the process.
Yet everyday is different; it's adventurous and can be filled with emotional outbursts both positive and negative. It's most definitely filled with human strength, determination and energy.
Yet that's not even it, the reason why I'm lucky is totally something else.
Imagine that you could have a party or a dance party with your friends and acquaintances. A party where new people show up to join in. At this party you play games and the go on some physical adventure that's grueling but somehow it bonds you together. At the end of this gathering people are like "Hell yeah that sucked!"
I get to cater this gathering, over several different hours of the day with several different "Cells" of people.
It's a pretty unique experience, knowing and talking to all of these different people, all living their life day in and day out. I know their kids, pets, where they grew up; I hear about their jobs, spouses and a host of other details about their lives.
I hear about life being lived! Then I participate in an hour of life with them... almost everyday!!
They are my community, my friends and acquaintances. They are people that fill my life with all the stuff life is filled with.
Today I got a root canal and had to run back into the gym to grab my bag. I got a group hug and some "how the hell are ya's"... it was nice to see the Fam before I headed home to take a recovery nap! It's why I come in every day.
See you guys in the morning! Be on time and make sure to ask each other how it's going!
Lucky me/Lucky you!
Jenny

Celebrating Women

Today I celebrate active women, today I celebrate coaching active women.
Women who when they walk into my gym are not mothers for that hour, they are not taxi divers, cooks, wives or lawyers, they are not tired or stressed out.. they are athletes.
I celebrate not coddling them, not treating them like they are fragile or incapable. I celebrate coaching them, I celebrate expecting a lot from them. I coach them knowing they can lift heavy weights and move fast. I celebrate seeing their potential, I coach them expecting that they can do anything and everything. I celebrate with them when their hands are getting tougher, that they can do pull ups. As women I expect them to have or gain confidence, because there is no reason they should not be confident. I celebrate active, ready for anything women!

In Search Of...

I'm searching for two individuals who want one on one coaching to help them reach a specific goal!  Here are the details:

1. You need to have a goal.  It can be an event such as running a race, a Crossfit competition, weight loss or even weightlifting.  I am open to other goals these are only some examples.

2. Once you have presented your goal or goals to me I will have a joint interview with you, where we can both decide whether or not I am the right coach for you.

3. I am looking for specific characteristics in the person that I will train.  Are you coachable? I will not be making suggestions during your time training with me, if I ask you to change how you put your socks on even though your way works well I expect that you'll learn how to do it my way inside and out.  You will bust your butt trying to learn it. No questions asked.
CONFIDENT- this is not cocky or expecting to win. Confident that if you do what your coach says you'll be ok.
PASSION- My job is not to motivate you, you need to push yourself. You hate rest days!
POSITIVE- no complaining, no excuses, no crying....just do, repeat, succeed!

4. There is a financial commitment and a time commitment.  I will train you for two months.  Weekly times will be personalized.

5. I will only be doing this with two people per month, this way you get as much quality training as possible from me.

If you're interested please call me at (860)801-0328 or                                                                                                                   email me at jen@crossfitlegitimus.com

Our War With Food

3/20/2017

Everybody knows that sugar is bad for you, that's been well established. We know  that it's in pretty much everything that is fun to eat! We also know that it has about seventeen thousand names. It's all well documented and communicated. We tend to have a shitload of excuses that we use to keep the crack in our life. That's not what I'm here to talk about today.

Our war in my opinion is how much we eat. How much we think we should eat, how much we think we need. Seems like we eat often and to much like champs. People seem to do this under the guise of needing to "Refuel" or "Maintain blood sugar". It a load of shit, sorry to break it to you.
Feeling hungry is not a reliable indicator of our need. When we overfeed ourselves our body craves food when we don't "NEED" food. Our systems are so used to being consistently fed that when deprived even a little our body says we are hungry.

Unless your at a high caloric output constantly throughout your day the chances are you're eating far too often and to much.

Even beautiful meals of home cooked food with meat vegetables and good fat can be to much. If because your fitness watch says you have 6 million steps around the office I'm sorry but I don't think you need a huge plate of beautiful food nor do you need a recovery drink.

If however you've been hauling wood, running after deer will hiking up a mountain throughout your day, well maybe then you should have three meals that could feed a lumberjack. Or if you are the person who's job it is to cut large blocks of ice to take back to the market to sell to people in order to keep there food fresh that the recently shot with a bow and arrow.... well yes maybe then too

I'm being silly I know. My point is this. Our life styles are not indicative of the amounts of food we consume. Most people are not burning millions of calories in a day and some of us who are burning significant amounts still have enough resources on our bodies to maintain our energy levels.

Why I'm I thinking and writing about this? Because I'm in the fitness and health business. I watch people workout like bad asses and are not able to shed pounds or keep them off. One hour of being a fitness champ per day does not make us in need of large amounts of calories. Since most of us before or after our hour of fitness are not taxing our bodies enough to continue to fuel!

Slow your food roll peeps. Ask yourself why am I eating this much and or this often?
